What about Neily? I'd say he's better then both Buck and Dupont and only 16. Neily for rook of the year

neily is a good hockey player but if he was such a high candidate then why doesnt he have very many points, he's on an amazing team that averages 5 goals a game, still between buck and dupont in my books, im giving it to buck

I agree hands down...buck's the guy this year. There are several good rookies in the league, but I do think buck's going to take best rookie.

Was at last nights game in Stratford against Guelph. Jackson played just awful, lets hope it was just nerves, first game with the new team. He's better than that. The Cullies just couldnt pull it together, hopefully they do better tonight in O'ville. Buck got robbed on a legitimate goal, yes it hit the inside of the post AND the net before coming back out.....might have changed the whole dynamics of the game had it become 4-2, and speaking of Buck....what's up Dennis? Where was he?...was it just me or was Buck missing a few shifts? Because if you want to win you need to put your number one guy out there to either score or at least set up McParland to try and hit the net. Although after last night's article in the Gazette, I'm thinking Parly should be benched for a few don't you think? Buck's strong wherever you put him, but get him back on center where he belongs and give him all the shifts he can take, maybe Stratty can win a few.

I was also at last nights game against guelph and i also noticed that Dennis was sitting his best player, Why Dennis? He was playing great on the wing all night with Warda and Broome and that was the only line that was going all night, there so called first line...where were they? When you need a goal to get your team going put out the line thats going that night, and what the hell were the coaches doing leaving number 6 on the ice after basically handing them 4 goals, you have to discipline players for making dumb mistakes like that not keep them out there only to do it again, Dennis really needs to wake up and coach these boys, Buck is your best player and is one of the only guys that works both ends of the ice, why isnt he playing centre anymore he was the best you had, these boys all have talent but they are not well coached at all, if these boys had a good coach then i think they could be doing better off this year, also that was a discusting article by McParland, your not even the best player on your team its a rookie in Buck, you should take your thingyiness all the way back to Thunder Bay

Is Buck on that To watch list, or not??? Last night's game was just terrible, was wasnt buck playing in the last half?? I hope this team does better tonight, Im not sure what dennis is thinking half the time, maybe it isnt the coach, maybe it is just the team. Anyways whats with mc parlands article haha, we should have framed. yeah nick is really talented, but jeez, thingyy.

Understand Buck was benched late in game account of cussing!!somebody should be cussing because some of the guys are not pulling their weight on that team..as to rookie of the year no question Buck for sure !!! Also cant understand Denis"s coaching No 6 and 19 were on for at least 5 goals some bench time might have sent a message to these two and maybe a few others I think Jackson was a bit nervous but needs to buckle down and concentrate more. ;D

Benching your best player for cussing? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Buck is one of the more reserved players on the team who is usually able to restrain himself...if he was cussing, it was because SOMEBODY needed to cuss.....the cullies were horrible last night.........nm cussing, at least Buck was playing the game when Dennis put him on the ice, which wasn't near enough...what about benching players for not playing their positions....our D was brutal! Not worried about Jackson, he'll pick up......probably just nervous for his first game........how about benching the D for helping Guelph all night!

Stratty played a good game against O'Ville Sat night. McParland tried to redeem himself for that horrific article about him in the paper....hard to blame a sportswriter with his job on the line for that one......McParland obviously said what he said and he has to take the fall out for that one and Stratford people have long memories....but he worked hard Saturday. Buck was back at center where he belongs and it did the job........play them where it works Dennis. Buck is still easily the strongest contender for Rookie of the Year. If you're going to bench your best player for swearing (I'm all for discipline but that's ridiculous at this level), then what about all the other guys out there? McParland has potty mouth in the worst way, we all read lips, but how old are we here? Don't make an example out of your top point getter in the third period of a losing game. Poor ongoing decisions this year. Wouldnt want your job Dennis, but lets get back to what we did when we were winning..........we're definitely hurting on the D, but we've got Jackson now and the team is still loaded with talent...... Buck, McParland, Kropf, Warda.........why can't we make it work and keep it working? Leave Buck at center and lets play hockey boys.

YOU GUYS KEEP TALKING ABOUT BUCK. WHAT IMPACT HAS HE REALLY HAD ON THE LEAGUE? PLAYING FOR A TEAM THAT'S STRUGGLING. BIG DEAL. VANBOMMEL IN BRANTFORD IS EASILY, NOT ONLY ROOKIE OF THE YEAR BUT IS STRONG CONTENDER FOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR. SO HE HAS A TEAM IN FRONT OF HIM, FINALLY THE EAGLES AREN'T LAST OR DAMN NEAR IT. HE STILL LEADS THE LEAGUE IN SHUTOUTS, WINS, GAA AND IS 2ND IN SAVE%. 3 OUT OF THOSE 4 CATEGORIES ARE HIM, NOT THE TEAM IN FRONT OF HIM. TO TOP IT OFF HE WON A PLAYER OF THE WEEK AND WAS PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER. PRETTY IMPRESSIVE FOR A ROOKIE. THE BUCK STOPS HERE. ;D

you are such an idiot...success for a goalie come from the team infront of him...the golden eagles have won what there last 13 straight...if you think its all the goalie and your not giving any credit to the team your even more ridiculous for making such a dumb ass comment...the eagles are the best team in the league and thats the only reason vanbommel is doing so well...it will go to a forward this year

I agree with "guest" above in response to Copperpot......it's not so difficult to be a great goalie when you have a great team in front of you which VanBommel does...I've said before I believe in giving credit where credit is due, and sure he's a decent goalie no question, but I wonder what his stats would be if he were playing for say....the Cullitons? Doubt he'd have the same stats with a struggling team in front of him. Lets be realistic, it's easy to be good when you're on a top team.....to be good on a team that is having their worst season in 30 years is not so easy, and that's reality. I've seen a lot of hockey and Buck is amazing, one of the best ALL ROUND real team players I've seen in a while. The kid has a ton of talent and more than that he plays with heart. Vanbommel is strong but a large part of his success, not all of it because he is talented, but a large part of his success is that he has a good team in front of him. Buck has to work twice as hard to be as successful as he is, and that says a lot, not just about Buck's talent but also his character. So you say "the Buck stops here?" Nice pun, but here's one for you Copperpot. There's a lot of people out there who would take a Buck over your two cents worth anyday. ;D

Good teams start from the goal line out. No tender, no chance of winning. You Stratford guys have ragged on Huston all year cause he couldn't do the job while at the same time stating the team in front of him wasn't that bad. Their record would be better if this was the case. Hence strong goaltending = more wins and vise versa. Haven't heard yet of a tender getting a phantom for a save or a win. What the Buck is only a game.

VanBommel - the kid just knows how to win - his GAA is awesome for a team of bums who would rather slash, hack and fight (thus shorthanded most of the game). Though not the "best" Tender in the league, give him credit as he is good...all this from a non Brantford fan...or did you miss the bum comment above...

Ya a team of bums. You must be a Listy or OS fan since their hole game plan involves the sticking, and holding your opponent. You ppl are just jealous of the Eagles success this season. As far a penalties only the Doms and O'ville have fewer and Gue. has played 2 less games. Find something else to whine about. Bommer's done the job on a good team that plays everynight in front of him.

Vanbommel and Dupont are both solid choices. Buck may be good but everyone is looking at the Hawks and Eagles right now. Its easy to stand out on a team that sucks and hard on teams that are good.

Thats a stupid thing to say, rethink that a little bit, when your on a struggling team it is alot harder to stand out because you have to try that much harder to do what you want on the ice, Duponts on a very good team where everyone looks good because of who they are playing with, same with Vanbommel if he played for a weak team say the Cullies then would his stats be all that great...sorry guys but not in my eyes...still Buck for rookie of the year, he deserves it more than anyone, I'm not a Cullies fan I'm with the Siskins but I am aware of his past and whats all gone on with him in the last two years with his heart operation and almost dieing, he is more than deserving of getting this award
