Rizz means well, the players are treated very well and even Nick wants the team to win, but I think people are missing the point. The owners are there for one and only one reason - it's all about 'his kid' getting to play Junior B hockey. He couldn't make it in Junior C let alone crack a Junior B team on his own merits. When Smith and his assistants started allocating ice time based upon results, drive and determination and commitment (including getting to practices on time and being ready to give 100%) that left the owner's kid with little ice time. Obviously a situation that couldn't continue when the only reason to own the team is to give the owner's kid a place to play. Bottom line I hope the team does well and they should with some of their recent pickups but until someone faces the real problem head on this team will never develop the drive to take them deep into the playoffs, not when the rest of the players know they're carrying a couple of players on their shoulders not because of how well they can play but more importantly who they're related to or friends of.

If you stop and think about this past week from a players perspective you should understand why last nights game was so important. The team was able to overcome the shock of losing a coaching staff that they may or maynot have respected. The owners of the club where quick to have new coaching staff step in and continue buiding the team. Would Dave Smith have used the checking line of McKinley, Krolouski, Klein to shut down the scoring line from Cambridge. I don't think so. This is why Dave is gone. Rizzetto has asseble a great team and maybe he is the one to lead it to a championship.

hey canuk, you could make a case that every team in the history of sport has had the problem of "carrying" players that may or ma not have deserved to be there. Why should the Eagles be any different. It's just the nature of the way it is.

we could argue for hours on end about what smith may or may not have done in last nights game, but he was obviously doing enough this year to have the best g.a.a in the entire province with a junior c goalie from last year and that other chump to start the year. This team will probably do well with the players they have picked up, but you can't argue that smith wasn't doing a good job with the team.

Smith is a proven winner. Everywhere he has gone he has proven that be can turn a team around. For all you people that say smith was a bad coach, shame on you. Proven with goals against average lowiest in the ontario and eight in ontario in goals for. To me thats a coach tht knows what he is doing. Riz is just ridding his coattails for the time being. Just look at the penalty sheet last night. Brantford had two guys out of the lineup and they took all those penalties, smith would of never let that happen. I know they won the game, but believe me its going to catch up to them one day.

I can't believe you say Riz will lead the team into the playoffs and that he is so great. Look at past years - terrible. Even his players say it, so come on be real. They will do ok because of the players they "bought" but remember the Simcoe coaches got the team rolling and playing well...!!! Have heard Riz likes to do this, get someone to start something good, then take over. Heard he had a big part in this firing. Even if he says no - bullcrap...He is right in there with the owners obviously - he works for them so must do as they say.

If I remember correctly, Brantford already beat Cambridge earlier this year and I think it was after they had played 3 games in 3 nights. Maybe the coaching staff knew what they were doing to beat them in Cambridge. I don't think Rizzeto is smart enough to match lines

haha "fan" wow you have THAT much time on your hands to look for all that, then re-type it out on the internet? I agree with "observer," you should take an English class cause I've never seen a newspaper article that looks like that. In the real world its called a "paragraph." You should try it, everyone else on this site knows how its done. And to think...you were copying something word for word too..hahaha

Was Johnson sitting out because he got clocked by Bauman in the Kings game?... He took a mean right hand to the face after hitting Swartzy from behind Did you read today's news! Cambridge leading scorers (Ford/Watson) shutdown buy Mckinley, Krolouski, Klein line. Win over Cambridge 2-0. Outshoot Cambridge 45 -23. All this with Brantfords leading scorer sitting out (Johnson). This team is working together and working hard toward one goal and that is to win. Great effort by all Brantford players last night. Keep up the effort and your goals will be realized.

Johnson didn't get clocked you stiff and if Schwartencantskatentruber did turn his back on the check and took it like a man there wouldn't have been a problem. CHeck the suspension page, if you can read.
