I wonder what happened here if it is true they were fired. It is on the midwestern web site. It does seem kind of wierd that they have played pretty good all year, then go on an 8 game undefeated streak and then lose one game and get fired. Must be more than meets the eye.

Obviously Brantford doesnt like to win, if they did do you think they'd fire the coaching staff when they are off to their best season ever?? Makes you wonder, oh well, I guess money doesnt but brains

I think the best coaching is with O-Ville. They have won only one game and the coaching staff is still there, so go figure!!!!!! Way to go O-Ville. The top survivors! O-Ville go get the Brantford coaching staff. Get some life back in to players and fans alike. May be the "W"'s will happen and the gates will bring more money. When will this quartet of Sutton. Dale, Inscoe and Chandler figure it Out?

I heard Riz is taking it on with same guy that helped him last year when they fired the coach.... (and the year before that, and the year before that.) Get the picture?? Anyone would be crazy to step in and coach after this - unless they are a yes man and do exactly what the owners and Riz say. I think the only good coaches would be the owners!!! HA HA Guaranteed, the next coach may last - say - until Christmas, unless it is Riz, then they will keep him on because he does what they say. Brantford did it now - it will be difficult to get anyone there with any brains to coach. BUT then there is the money - maybe they will have to open the pocket book like they do with the players to keep someone on the bench? I also heard they had this all set up - get someone over there to get the team going and then get rid of them...Makes mgmt look good. WHAT A JOKE.

There was a good article in the Brantford Expositor yesterday about the firing. Owners sound pretty stupid if you ask me. The owner says "I do want to win, but I don't want to win like we were" How dump does that make him sound. Goes on to say the chemistry was bad between the coaches and some players (Read:Owners son) and the inability between the coaches and owners to commmunicate. Smith says "I guess the best goals-against average(2.65) in the whole league is a reason to be fired. We were shocked. The owners said they were men of their word and they didn't give us the opportunity. At the beginning of the year we said we wanted to coach the way we wanted and we needed to be left alone. They didn't do that."
Actually a good article, sounds to me like it was all about the owners son and the coaches feeling he wasn't good enough to play. It's amazing what money can do for you.

From the sounds of it these owners really have know idea what is really going on do they. I'm from brantford and was starting to follow this team. I hate to say it but the reason was becuase these guys were starting to win. Big Big hockey fan but not a big fan of a losing team. I lost interest a while go when Nick was involved and now we have these owners. Who really don't know hockey from a hole in the ground. Rizzetto isn't a coach. He proved that last year. Was doing a good job this year as GM, but now what. Hey now that I put that in writing doesn't that sound like it was all planned. Get a caoching staff in here who can turn a team around, and get them in the right direction while riz goes outs and buys a couple of players just enough so that he can near the top. Gets to that point and than axe the coaching staff. How do these people sleep with themselves at night.
Is there anyone out there that can post that newspaper article on the web so everyone can read it. I happened to miss that paper and went today to get it from the store but thay had none. If Possible that would be great.

Riz took over last year when the team was 2-6 and already in danger of missing the playoffs. The team had already quite playing of Hayward. The team was competitive the balance of the season and made the playoffs. If they had consistent goaltending they would probably have finished higher than 8th. The Eagles were only outshot 11 games last season. All of the imports that were signed last season came back for this season, that should tell any of you that read this post something was done right as those players chose to return. If that had not occured then Dave Smith and his staff would have had a more difficult task of "turning the team around" as the players would not have been in place to allow them to move up in the standings. Your right Riz has done a great job getting players to come to the program and has been able to get more depth and a solid lineup that can compete every night. The goaltending issue appears to be solved with Van Bommell and Lindsey both playing extremely well. As for these owners if your a big big fan you'll know there is no comparing them to Nick. No team in the MWJB loop is treated any better. Period. These players have been treated first class right from day 1. It's easy to point fingers and find fault in people and the Eagles are an easy target given their history. Maybe some of you people should vollunteer your time and energy instead of slamming the organization. Just keep in mind for the most part it's countless hours, long nights and a lot of miles during the hockey season. Step up.

Who cares! Brantford will sink like a stone as the season goes on. Finish 6th or 7th and exit in the first round. Benesch's junior career over. Good night!

Hey "NOT NICK" - who would want to help an organization with the reputation Brantford has? After this, it will be a wonder they get anybody to help out. As for the players being treated #1 - they are. But that is easy when you have the money to throw around like the owners do. No, help out - don't think I would want anything to do with this outfit after hearing all this bull...

from what I hear Brantford lost all 3 of their top scores from last year and not all the players returned. maybe the new coaches were smart enough to see that they were not going to win trying to outscore everyone who hads tons of fire power, but rely on defence to keep them competative. From what I saw, they did a great job.

eagles won games bc the players come to play. they will play the same way all year wth riz behind the bench. losing the players from last year is better for them as their other players are finally gettin the chance to play and r showing they can play in the league

Did anyone read the paper. How in the world can you defend this hockey club. I don't think the owners went to school. That was the worst quotes i have ever heard, and there reason to fire the coaches give me a break. He didn't like the way they were winning. If your winning who the hell cares. A win is a win. I could care less if my team won with figure skates on as long as they win.

Did you read today's news!
Cambridge leading scorers (Ford/Watson) shutdown buy Mckinley, Krolouski, Klein line. Win over Cambridge 2-0. Outshoot Cambridge 45 -23. All this with Brantfords leading scorer sitting out (Johnson). This team is working together and working hard toward one goal and that is to win.
Great effort by all Brantford players last night. Keep up the effort and your goals will be realized.

Obviously you didn't go to school either...your post speaks for itself. It looks like the team can win without the ex-coaching staff. They are in second place after beating the first place team. There isn't a team in this league who treats their players better than the owners of the Eagles. If school is such a big deal to you, maybe you should take an English class.

Local Sports November 4.2005 BY Expositor Staff
GOLDEN EAGLES GROUND FIRST-PLACE WINTER HAWKS
Ryan Ford of the Cambridge Winter Hawks came to the Civic Centre Thursday night as leading scorer in the Mid-Western Ontario Junior B Hockey League with 39 points.
Ford's line mate Cam Watson was second in the league with 29 points and their line mate Justin Lacey wasn't to be taken lightly with 19 points.
However, the Brantford Golden Eagles assigned the line of centre Mike McKinley and wingers Kris Krolouski and Derek Klein to blanket the Winter Hawks' high scoring trio.
The strategy resulted with the Golden Eagles scoring a 2-0 victory over the first-place Winter Hawks.
"Our line of Mckinley, Krolouski and Klein shut down the highest scoring line in the league and that was very important." said Golden Eagles' general manager Brian Rizzetto.
The win lifted Brantford into a tie for second place with the Elmira Sugar Kings as each team has 24 points, five behind first -place Cambridge.
"The kids played an excellent team game with everybody contributing" said Rizzetto.
"It was an excellent character builder for the kids."
Rizzetto has taken ont he coaching duties while actively pursuing a head coach to replace Dave Smith, who was fired earlier this week.
The Golden Eagles dominated the first period but were stoned by Cambridge goaltender Lucas Lobsinger.
"We thought our first period was our best period of the year as we oushot them 21-3" Rizzetto said.
"We were happy with our forchecking and our press. We wanted to get back to under 30 shots on a on goal a game"
The Golden Eagles went on to oushut the Winter Hawks 45-23.
Brantford finally broke throught Lobsinger's armour at the 10:30 mark of the third period wehn Jack Mullan scored a shorthanded goal.
Mullan game the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead st 11:52 .
Chris Lindsay Earned the shutout for the Golden Eagles, .....
THIS IS THE NEWS I WAS REFERRING TOO!
