I don't know about you but the way Brantford is throwing around their money is really disheartening. I know they want to drop the bad image they have and be a feared team but the way they are doing it isn't ethical. teams have been throwing money at players to entice them to thier teams for years and it isn't new. Here are a few confirmed points as to what they doing.
1) They offered Kitchener $10,000 for Kyle Schwende
2) They tell OHL scouts they will pay them $1500 for every player they bring them.
3) John Neal is getting $400 a week plus $200 a game (probably gets gets paid for every goal he scores)
4) Last year they paid Gilchrist $100 a goal.
I would imagine there is a lot more money being passed around also.
If they think doing that and winning will bring them respect they are dead wrong. Word around the hockey world is everyone thinks it is crazy and no one respects them at all.

You tell me who isn't paying players? I know Jr. C teams that pay players etc etc....and big money also. It is so sad that it has come to this - years ago you played because you wanted to play for a team - NOW it is how much can I get - and if you are a good player who wouldn't take the big bucks.....I know Thorold pays for their University education which equals $15,000 per year - turn that down would ya!! ? So it is not only Brantford that is throwing around the money..

yepper the fat man is only trying to save his ass cause he knows he has to do sumthing this year otherwise his ass would be on the firing line, but to pay john neal 25,000. to play for them is crazy. this team is only a one year team unless they spend for next year too!

if they were still in the cellar you wouldnt be bit*hing, just becasue they have won a few games and have a good looking team this year you all have to hate on them... The Thorold point was right on the money, both them and Niagara Falls pay BIG cash to other teams and to players; look at both organizations, they are WINNERS. Everyone hates a winner i guess... Shut up and watch B-Ford take it all this year bit*hes, just a shame none of you were ever good enough to be on the recieving end of a little doe-ray-me for playing the game you love

maybe if Risseto had a little class this team would be respected- yes there doing well but the season is young - if his influence gets to the players they will most likely return to what they were , a bottom place team.

Hey wayne, i double dare you to shut your yap. Hate all you want, when Brant is holding the Sutherland cup you will all still be sitting at your computers downloading pornographic materials (obviously some of you spend so much time on here you can't have lives) trashing Rizz or the coaches or the owners on this message board. Like I said, I'm sure if Brantford was 4-9 instead of 9-4 no one would have a thing to say. I smell a bit of jealousy

Seems to me that all teams in the history of this league have a habit of purchasing players in order to strengthen their respective programs. They just beat the other teams to the punch this year. There were other parties interested in Neal and Benesch but they were able to aquire them. If they had gone to Cambridge or Stratford everyone would be talking about how shrewd Peter or Dennis had been once again. Lets not forget that Brantford had a great group of returning players from last year's team and made the aquisitions they felt were needed to add depth at all positons. The management of every team in this league owes it to their ownership, players and fans to ice the best possible team it can. The Eagles have done that so far this season.

Just how stupid are you people thinking anyone from the Brantford team stole items from Listowel - go back to grade 1, will ya - or are you there already. I am sure they will wear those rings next time they play in Listowel. PLEASE give it up...I am sure everyone would love to catch the little Bast...ds that stole the items. VEhicles are stolen all the time from the Civic centre - so this doesn't surprise me.....Maybe someone lost money at the casino and needed a quick $.... HA HA

Money handed out for anything other than travel expenses and school should not be allowed. Paying players for other reasons makes them professionals. Could cause harm down the road to players with scholarships, taxes etc. GM should know the rules before making deals.

Ofcourse they know the rules. Some just don't follow them. It's that simple.

Teams have been throwing money around for years. And alot of teams disagreed with it and tried to ice competitive teams by recruiting hometown players and players who weren't concerned with money, but as time went on teams began to switch over to paying the money because they couldn't compete with the teams that did pay. In today's hockey, whether it's Junior C, B, etc most of the higher ranked teams have paid players, it is just the facts. They are either paid, or given cars, or get college paid for, who wouldn't take that if your 18 or 19 years old, to play hockey.

If they had gone to Cambridge or Stratford everyone would be talking about how shrewd Peter or Dennis had been once again. . Cambriodge would never pay a player $10,000 let a lone half that...It is common knowledge teams buy players but the point here is that Brantford in their quest wants to pay CRAZY money for talent.

THE NUMBER PAID FOR NEAL WAS DICTATED BY OSHAWA, MAYBE YOU COULD ASK THEM WHAT WAS PAID FOR HIS RELEASE AND IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT WAS PAID FOR BENESCH CALL AL KIMMEL HE MAY TELL YOU...OTHER THAN THAT IT IS NOBODY'S BUSINESS.

They got Benesch for a dozen pucks, six rolls of tape (white I think) and a promise that they would keep him!
